A smoothie is a fast and easy way to get nutrients. I guess you could say it’s the ultimate fast food, lol!
I keep all sorts of frozen berries and bananas in the freezer, and I always try to keep some sort of fresh greens around, like kale or spinach. Those simple things can come together quickly and make a great light breakfast or snack. It can even make a delicious recovery drink.
This Berry Green Recovery Smoothie recipe is the perfect addition to your smoothie regimen, but don’t let that gorgeous purple color fool you… this smoothie is packed with lots of fresh kale!
To make this a real recovery smoothie, I added one of my favorite superfoods, chia seeds. Chia seeds help control blood sugar levels, prevent blood clots, reduce high blood pressure, reduce inflammation, improve your digestion, and give you energy. It’s a perfect snack after a tough match or workout!
Also, whenever possible, I use fresh blueberries, but I freeze them for my smoothies. It helps make the consistency a little thicker. But if you don’t have fresh berries, frozen would work, too.
If you’re someone who turns their nose up at a “green” smoothie or don’t get enough veggies in your diet, then THIS Berry Green Recovery Smoothie is for you! It’s as healthy as it tastes delicious, and you can’t taste the kale AT ALL! You’ll quickly become a fan.
I hope you’ll give it a try and let me know what you think.
