Summer is here and for me, that means spending more time playing tennis and enjoying the great outdoors! While I am absolutely in love with this time of year, it’s also a time where our feet can take a beating. Long matches, nightly walks after dinner, and hours playing with my grandkids at the beach means my feet can get a little dry… enter this Lavender Foot Scrub! It takes less than 5 minutes to put together, and your feet will thank you.
Ways to Invest in Self Care
I think it’s so important to take some time out of our days just to focus on ourselves. Somedays that may be taking 2 minutes to enjoy your coffee by yourself (preferably hot, lol!) or other days you may find a few extra minutes to squeeze in some light reading. Taking care of ourselves doesn’t always hit the priority list, but is SO important.
I’ve made this scrub using both fresh and dried lavender, and let me save you the ingredients — only use dried lavender in this! For some reason, the moisture in fresh lavender throws off the scent. If you want to use lavender from your garden, dry it before using or just skip the dried lavender if you don’t have it. The addition of the lavender essential oil is what really adds the bulk of the lavender aroma!
This scrub also makes the cutest little gift to say you’re thinking of someone. The ingredients are inexpensive and it’s the small things that can really brighten someone’s day! There’s nothing better than something homemade, right? I’m focusing on spreading love and kindness these days and I have a few girlfriends who I know would appreciate this reminder to take some time for themselves.
What are the Health Benefits of Lavender?
I used Epsom salts for the additional bit of texture which helps make this foot scrub more exfoliating, but you could use sub-regular salt if desired. The fragrance from the oils of the lavender plant is believed to help promote calmness, reduce stress, anxiety, and possibly even mild pain.
I hope you love making and using this as much as I do!
