These mahvelous Muddy Buddy bars are the ultimate game-day snack! They’re jam-packed with chocolatey sweet awesomeness for a delicious pick-me-up on the court. It’s one of our favorite “sweet” recipes, and it’s so easy to make – no cooking required!
So what exactly is in this decadent treat? The question should be, what’s NOT in it? Semi-sweet chocolate chips, mini Reese’s peanut butter cups, Reese’s peanut butter baking chips, and marshmallows top the list of other yummy ingredients.
I know… this is not the healthiest snack option (not even close, lol!) but you’ll be hustling on the court, right? You’ll crush those calories in no time!
Storage Tips
These Muddy Buddy Bars are best enjoyed the same day they are made. If you must store them, keep them in an airtight container at room temperature.
Mahvelous Muddy Buddy Bars
Ingredients
- 8 cups Chex cereal
- 5 Tbsp unsalted butter, sliced into tablespoons
- 1/4 cup light brown syrup
- 6 cups soft mini-marshmallows
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/8 tsp fine sea salt
- 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp Reese's baking chips
- 1/2 cup Reese's minis
- 1 Tbsp powdered sugar
Instructions
- Generously grease a 9x13-inch pan with nonstick cooking spray or softened butter. Measure out the cereal and place it in a very large bowl.
- In a medium nonstick pot, add in this order: slices of butter, corn syrup, marshmallows, chocolate chips, and salt. Heat over low heat, stirring frequently until melted (see Note 3). Remove from heat and stir in the peanut butter and vanilla.
- Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the measured cereal and, use a sturdy spatula to mix gently until the cereal is evenly coated. Let the mixture sit for a minute or two to cool a bit and then add in the Reeses cups and peanut butter chips. (They'll still melt a bitu002du002dthis is intended.) Gently mix through a few times. Transfer and gently and evenly press the mixture into the prepared pan (see Note 4).
- Let sit for at least 30 minutes up to an hour before using a fine-mesh sieve to lightly sprinkle bars with powdered sugar. Cut into bars, and enjoy!
- Store at room temperature covered tightly. Bars are best enjoyed the same day they're made!
