This shake is like a blend of a banana split and Neapolitan ice cream, and it’s absolutely divine! With three layers (strawberry, banana, and chocolate), it’s loaded with protein and perfect for after a match or workout. It’s a tasty way to help your body recover!
This Banana Split Protein Shake is pretty basic, too. There are only six ingredients. There’s no need to add any sugar, as the fruit is a natural sweetener.
Here are the six ingredients:
- frozen bananas
- frozen strawberries
- your favorite vanilla protein powder
- almond milk (or soy milk or other milk of your choice)
- raw cocoa powder
- chia seeds
There are a few tips for making this Banana Split Protein Shake beautiful AND delicious…
- Use frozen bananas. They are crucial to the thickness of the shake. I like to peel and cut up my bananas and put them overnight in a ziploc bag.
- Use a vanilla protein powder. Vanilla is the best flavor for this shake. If you want it as a late-night snack, have it without protein powder, but add a little Greek yogurt (or vegan yogurt) and reduce the amount of Almond milk to your desired thickness.

Layered Banana Split Protein Shake
Ingredients
FOR THE CHOCOLATE LAYER:
- 1 Ripe banana frozen
- 2 tsp Chocolate protein powder of your choice
- 1 tbsp Raw cocoa powder
- 1 tsp Chia seeds
- 1/4 cup Almond Breeze Vanilla AlmondMilk/CashewMilk Blend unsweetened
FOR THE BANANA LAYER:
- 1 Ripe banana frozen
- 2 tsp Vanilla protein powder of your choice
- 1 tsp Chia seeds
- 1/4 cup Almond Breeze Vanilla AlmondMilk/CashewMilk Blend unsweetened
FOR THE STRAWBERRY LAYER:
- 8 Strawberries frozen
- 2 tsp Protein powder of choice
- 1/4 cup Almond Breeze Vanilla AlmondMilk/CashewMilk Blend unsweetened
Instructions
- Make the chocolate layer first. In a blender, add in frozen banana, protein powder, cocoa powder, chia seeds and milk. It should be THICK. Spoon evenly into 2 medium glasses and place in the freezer.
- Rinse the blender, then make the banana layer by adding frozen banana, protein powder, chia seed, and milk. Blend until thick, smooth and creamy. Gently spoon the banana mixture onto the chocolate layer by spooning it into the glass. Place glasses back in the freezer.
- To make the strawberry layer, blend strawberries, protein powder and almond milk together. Again, you want this to be pretty thick, but you may need to add a little more almond milk to make it blend. Once the strawberry shake is thick and creamy, gently spoon it over the chocolate layer. Place the glasses back in the freezer again for about 15 minutes, then enjoy!
