Iconic tennis brand Prince and sunscreen brand Vacation have teamed up to introduce a limited-run capsule in honor of a “1992 Annual Interoffice Tennis Championship” – an entirely fictitious story paired with a completely real commemorative collection. The shirts are unisex, making them perfect for both Court Queens AND Kings!
The fictional story takes place in Miami, Florida, on August 28, 1992, when Prince and Vacation held their seventh Annual Interoffice Tennis Championships. A Vacation employee worked as a ball boy for the tournament and did a pretty poor job at missing most, if not all, retrievals. A defending Prince champion witnessed the ball boy’s struggle and offered him a homemade string wax to aid his traction. As the tournament wore on and the heat rose throughout the day, the ball boy applied his sunscreen with his wax-covered hand, eventually discovering the key to water-resistant sunscreen.
Although the 1992 event itself may be fictional to support the collaboration, the product lineup is nostalgic and canny for fashion and olfactory lovers alike, instantly transporting you back to courtside.
Comprised of a Limited-Edition Commemorative T-Shirt, Limited Edition Commemorative Hat, and “Ball Boy” Scented Candle, the three-piece collection retails between $32 and $42 USD and is available on both the Vacation and Prince websites.
