One of my league tennis teams loves to go all out for Halloween, including but not limited to fun “costumes,” themed snack table décor, and creepy cuisine!
By costume, I mean we usually find a fun Halloween-themed t-shirt with coordinating skorts or shorts, and caps or visors. And by themed table décor, I’m talking themed table cloth and serve ware, and little Halloween tchotchkes (reuse them every year) dotting the table. But for the cuisine? Keep reading for the creepiest charcuterie centerpiece I’ve seen yet!
Yes, we’re talking Halloween halfway through September. For y’all who do this every year, you know it takes weeks to plan everything for the Halloween-themed home match. And for those who might be thinking about doing it for the first time, you should start planning now – especially if you want to wear matching outfits. Ours took weeks to decide on and another couple of weeks for them all to be delivered. A couple of times the t-shirts we found on Amazon were made to order so it took longer.
Anywho… back to this tray!
I came across this video from Chef Genevieve LaMonaca in a TikTok reel, and I had to share it! Can’t you just see the looks on your opponents’ faces when they head to your table and see an “Edible Amputated Arm?”
Here’s the video along with the ingredients and directions which are listed below.
PS. If you make this and serve it at your holiday Halloween home match, post a pic of it on your snack table on Instagram, and tag us @courtqueenofficial – we’ll give you a shoutout! And for more awesome recipes, follow Chef Genevieve LaMonaca on Youtube, TikTok, and Instagram!
Ingredients:
- 1 6oz. cream cheese (room temp)
- 1 Tbsp fresh minced chive
- 1 Tbsp fresh minced parsley
- 1 Tbsp fresh minced dill
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 5 prosciutto panini rolls (like these from the Columbus brand)
- 2 prosciutto wrapped mozzarella rolls (I found the Boar’s Head brand at Kroger grocery stores here, but I’m sure you can find it where you are too)
- 6 slices prosciutto
- Red onion (use thinnest outer layer)
Directions:
- In a bowl combine cream cheese along herbs and spices, mix and set aside.
- Lay a sheet of parchment paper down, trace out your hand and lower arm then place another sheet of parchment on top (to prevent cross-contamination from the marker).
- Lay down 5 panino rolls to match with your finger tracings and two prosciutto wrapped mozzarella rolls to match your arm.
- Add in your herbed cream cheese to fill the gaps then smooth out the imperfections.
- Place prosciutto slices over covering all cream cheese, using smaller pieces between the fingers.
- For the nails, using the thinnest slice of red onion available, cut to the shape of five nails and “glue” onto fingertips using extra cream cheese.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate 4-5 hours. Once firm, (I used a bench scraper to loosen the cream cheese from the parchment paper) transfer to your presentation platter or board.
- Serve with some crackers and Halloween props (plastic spiders, eyeballs)
