Whenever it’s my turn to bring eats for home league matches, I prefer homemade goodies over store bought. It’s much better for you and, in my opinion, it tastes better too. And everyone always appreciates the thoughtfulness and effort.
For the morning matches, brunch-type goodies that don’t weigh you down are best. Fruit is especially good because it also has natural sugar for a little extra kick on the court.
At my last away match, the only fruit the home team offered was a plate of about 6 peel-on bananas that were cut in half. Not to sound like a foodie snob, but… bor-ing!
Look, I know that providing snacks when hosting the competition isn’t required, but league is not just about competition; it’s also about socialization and camaraderie. If you hosted a party at your home, would you serve them halved bananas? Probably not 🙂
If you’ve been assigned to bring the fruit, bring a variety. Sure, bananas are great for a quick shot of potassium, but oranges, strawberries and blackberries have it, too. And to make them less boring, serve them with some yummy fruit dip.
This decadent dip is the perfect match for all types of fruits – berries, grapes, melons, apples, citrus… and, yes, bananas!
And the best thing about it (aside from it’s creamy awesomeness) is that you can whip it up in just 10 minutes!
So, the next time you’re assigned to bring the fruit, serve it up with some fluffy Marshmallow Fruit Dip!
