Do you feel like you are married to your doubles partner?
As a coach and captain to hundreds of recreational women and men, I encourage you to find multiple doubles partners.
Playing with different doubles partners can help you improve your game in many ways.
- You can learn from different players. By playing with different partners, you can learn from their strengths and improve your own game.
- Playing with different partners allows you to experience different play styles and learn how to adapt to them.
- Playing with different partners can help you meet new people and make new friends. It can also help you stay motivated and excited about the game.
With all that being said, the staples of a good partnership remain. If you want to be a successful partnership, these 5 tools are necessary.
- Sharing the same goals.
- Look for opposite strengths and synergies.
- Easy to communicate with.
- Are you on the same level?
- Being friends can be good or bad but not necessary.
I can agree that long-term partnerships can be good. You can also become complacent at times. Be open to both.
