Though she has won 23 Grand Slams (7 singles, 14 doubles, 2 mixed), American tennis champion Venus Williams is known for being very down to earth. She makes friends wherever she goes and never shies away from speaking her mind. That said, Venus is also very active on Instagram and loves to connect with her fans. Recently, while going through the comments on the account of her clothing brand, EleVen by Venus, she pulled some interesting questions and answered them in her Insta stories.
Venus Makes Admission
One fan asked about her tennis racquet, writing, “Are you going to switch to Blade 102 (Serena’s model)?”
Though Venus currently uses the Wilson Blade 104 V7 tennis racquet and strings both the mains and crosses with Luxilon ALU Power 125, Venus jokingly answered, “I have been borrowing her racquet since my coach has all mine.”
Soon after Venus’ response, her coach Eric Hechtman replied with, “Got those sticks ready for you.” Hechtman has been training the American since 2019 and accompanies her to every tournament.
Queen Vee Offers Tennis Tips
The former World No. 1 is undeniably one of the greats of the current generation. She has literally been there, done that, so, of course, fans will ask her for game strategies and tips. I have no doubt that a few words of guidance from a player of her caliber and experience could provide that breakthrough a player needed.
One fan asked how she handles her on-court stress, to which Venus replied, “I don’t ask for less challenges. I ask for more skills.”
Following that, she addressed how she handles situations when one’s game is falling apart because of their partner’s fault while in doubles. She said, “encourage them to them to pace off of the first serve. Get it in so they don’t have to hit a second serve until they can settle down.”
Speaking about her tennis, she has sidelined her game for quite some time now. However, recently, Venus sparked some hope by hinting at a possible comeback at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships.
